Minitest - test ApplicationController before_action in Rails 4

Come posso testare ApplicationController before_action in Minitest? Ho un before_action che imposta le impostazioni locali da url params ma non ho idea di come impostare il test per questo.

È possibile farlo configurando un controller anonimo e instradando la richiesta spec a quel controller.
